Al Ain Mens College hosted the inaugural Higher Colleges of Technology 5-a-side Indoor Football Tournament on February 21, in its new-state-of-the-art Multi-Purpose Sports Centre.

Teams from DMC, ADMC, FMC, RKMC, SMC and hosts AAMC participated in the tournament.

In this fast-paced and high intensity version of football, students’ fitness levels were pushed beyond their comfort zone for over 3 hours, and teamwork became an important factor in overcoming the physical challenges.

Under the guidance of team captain Mohammed Abdulla Al Shamsi, AAMC excelled in the tournament as each player realized that teamwork was the key to building a stronger unit. This was reflected in their victories, which were 6-1 v ADMC; 5-2 v FMC; 3-1 v SMC; 2-0 v RKMC; and 2-0 v DMC, thereby completing the tournament as the undefeated champions.

FMC and ADMC also fared very well in the competition taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Students from across the country also had the chance to interact socially and create networks.

Tim Smith, Director of the Al Ain Ain Colleges said: ‘It’s always good when students from the various HCT colleges get together and today was no exception. We are very happy to have initiated this event which we hope to host annually.’
