RAK Colleges’ Photography Competition winners celebrated

RAK Colleges are pleased to announce the winners of their Second Annual Photography Competition 2011, which coincided with the UAE 40th National Day celebrations.

The winners were:

  • 1st – Omar Ebrahim Rashed Ahmed Alnawkhza Aal Ali (RKMC);
  • 2nd – Alya Salem Jumah Mubarak Al Ghazal (RKWC);
  • 3rd – Abdulrahman Mohamed Ali Al Shehhi (RKMC).

As well as certificates, they won cash prizes of AED2, 000, 1,500 and 1,000 respectively.

The second prize winning photograph “Authenticity” by Alya Al Ghazal.

There were also five ‘Honorable Mention’ prizes of electronic photo frames awarded to Waleed Ali Hassan Al Dhuhoori; Ahmed Ebrahim Al Marhoon; Shamma Sultan Yousef, Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Neaimi; Mohammed Khalifa Abdulla Mohamed, Alshoareb Aal Ali; and Ahd Abdulla Rashed and Ahmed Abdulla Aal Ali.

This year’s theme of “Capture the Spirit of the Union” tied in with the 40th UAE National Day Celebrations and students took photos that celebrated ‘The Spirit of Our Father Zayed’, ‘A Nation made up of many faces’, ‘Our heritage, our pride’ and ‘The bright future we hold in our hands’.

The third prize winning photograph “The Great Past & Bright Future” by Abdulrahman Al Shehhi.

This year’s competition attracted 26 entrants from the two colleges, 4 more than last year and the prizes were awarded at the start of RKMC’s National Day celebrations.

Debra Crary, who has participated as a judge since the start of the competition, said: “Everyone did a great job! Congratulations to all and we hope to continue seeing your work in future competitions.”
