The Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology have announced the launch of Mosaic 2012 activities held this year under the theme of “The Spirit of Scientific Discovery”.
Mosaic 2012 will include a series of engaging educational activities and exhibitions as well as students research projects, local and international field trips, a film festival, competitions and the culminating exhibition event.
Dr. Farid Ohan summarized the Mosaic 2012 as follows “MOSAIC 2012 is a testament to the architects of science, their achievements, and the impact that these achievements have had on the way we think and live now and in our future.
And as in previous years, it is our expectation that this event will be held under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, to share students their great ideas and achievements”.
For her part, Lauralee Kilgour, MOSAIC 2012 Organizing Committee Chair, stressed the importance of this annual event, saying: “As in previous years, MOSAIC 2012 is designed to inspire in students a sense of wonder and curiosity about the variety of human experiences that have shaped the world in which they live.”
“It is hoped that through their participations they will come to appreciate the richness of the past, the great possibilities that lie in the future, and the need to do their part in the present. The Mosaic 2012 exhibition planned for April will feature science zones which will provide a unique and engaging opportunity for visitors to learn about our scientific world,” she added.
