The HCT Ras Al Khaimah Colleges are celebrating the success of their recently held Jewellery Design Competition, which attracted a huge number of entries.
The Colleges organized the competition as part of their celebrations for the 40th Anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates. Those celebrations are centered on the concepts of education, learning, fun and national pride.
Under the competition all HCT students and alumni were invited to participate by designing a commemorative pin that embodied the 40 years of the United Arab Emirates, and which incorporated the HCT acronym or logo.
More than 250 entries were received from all the HCT campuses and after much deliberation by the judges, RAK Women’s College alumnae Aisha Hamdoon Al Naqbi was declared the winner.
Aisha’s winning design is called “King of the Sky”, incorporating a falcon which represents the culture and the identity of the UAE.
The judges noted that the falcon was a fitting emblem to depict success and rising to new heights. At its core, this design represents visionary power, wisdom, and the guardianship of the late Sheikh Zayed is being continued by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
The falcon is also used as a symbol which represents the journey of the HCT as an educational institution for aspiring UAE nationals to excel in their chosen path of study, the judges said.
The second prize was awarded to RAK Men’s College Applied Media student Ahmed Mohamed Rashed Al Hebsi and the third prize was awarded to Dubai Men’s College graduate Sulaiman Rashed Mohamed.
