Western Region students get inspired at Mubadala Youth Forum

Bachelor’s students from Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges had the chance to interact, formally and informally, with a diverse group of role models on October 18, when they attended the Mubadala Youth Forum at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi.

The forum aimed to bring together CEOs and managers to talk with the brightest Emirati students to inspire them to reach for their highest goals.

Students were thrilled to have the chance to talk to important people and to hear about their professional journeys.  They also learnt how to make their voices heard and how to deal with difficult issues.

“I was shaking when I spoke out to a group of managers of big companies in the UAE.  It caught the attention of lots of people in the break time,” said one HCT delegate, Amal.

“But they made me feel relaxed and praised me for having the courage to raise a problematic topic, I am glad now that I spoke out, my voice was heard.”

As part of the program students were introduced to three Emiratis who had been to the United States on internships with the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The trio was sponsored by the Arab Youth Venture Foundation (AYVF) and Mubadala Development Company.  After watching a short video showing the interns working at NASA, the NASA interns
spoke about the experience, their hopes and their worries and how they overcame them, and answered questions from the audience. Madinat Zayed and Ruwais students were fascinated with the stories the interns told and were thrilled to realise that they could apply themselves in the future.

“I felt proud when I saw such examples of UAE`s young people thinking and working toward achieving their aims and objectives despite the difficulties they faced. I learned how to be a positive thinker even if the path is not clear, I must just keep trying to reach my goals,” said Sabreen, a student from Ruwais colleges, after speaking with the interns during the break.

“It was inspiring to realize that important people were not always
important, they were like us when they first started out and if we keep working hard and striving towards our goals, we could be in their place in the future”.
