More than 400 jobs offered at Dubai Women’s College’s Employers’ Day

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) opened today its Fifth Employers’ Day, organized with the aim of maximizing the exposure of job opportunities to all DWC current students and graduates from previous years.

This year, more than 43 employers from leading organizations, representing the government, semi-government, and mostly private sector participated and advertised more than 400 full-time, part-time and summer jobs.

Employers were able to interview, and employ, qualified Emirati females; network with the students, faculty and staff; and present their organizations’ profiles and services to interested visitors.

Participating organizations, representing a wide variety of industries in Dubai, included Al Futtaim, Al Rostamani, AXA Group, MAF Carrefour, Chalhoub Group, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), DU, Dubai Airport Freezone, Dubai Bank, Dubai Courts, Dubai Media Inc, Ducab, Emarat, Emirates NBD, Ernst & Young, First Gulf Bank, Hamdan Award, Iffco, Intel, International House Dubai, IIR Middle East, Jumeirah, Lloyds TSB, Mashreq Bank, Meydan, The Ministry of Environment and Water, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Public Opinion Center (Dubai Police), Schlumberger, Serco, Sky News Arabia, Standard Chartered, Tecom Investments, Dubai Women Establishment, Wasl, Dunia, Education Zone, Emirates Post, Emirates Gas (ENOC), Sharjah Islamic Bank, Government of Dubai, Land Department., Tanmia, and Emirates Nationals Development Program.

Throughout the Employers’ Day, several workshop sessions were conducted by high profile UAE and international speakers. Smart HR solutions with LEGO Serious Play workshop was conducted by DWC Alumnae Tarifa Ajaif Al Zaabi while Dr. Zain Sharif, Director of Labor Standards and Policies Ministry of Labor presented a workshop on exploring the competitiveness of UAE Nationals.

Dr. Khalid Othman Al Yahya, Professor and Director for the Governance and Public Management Research Program Dubai School of Government, conducted a workshop entitled “Workforce Nationalization between Reality and Ambition”. Dr. Amal Hegazi, a Career Counselor at Directorate of Human Resources-Sharjah Government presented a workshop on “the Unemployed Young”, while Adrian Wells -Sky News Arabia Launch Director conducted a session on “The Media in the Middle East and the challenge of the 24 hour news market in the region.”

During the day, DWC graduates and students got the chance to meet and network with participating Dubai employers and discussed possible employment opportunities with them.  Students and graduates were interviewed and received competitive employment offers from several employers.

Rabia Bekhazi, DWC’s CAREERS Supervisor said: “DWC Employers’ day is recognized  as a major recruitment event and aims to provide Employers in the private and public sectors with the opportunity to source, competent and talented graduates,  from one of the longest standing Colleges in the community.  Our drive at DWC at these exceptional economic times is to bring to campus the best Employers, on the day, to engage and interact with graduates and students. The objective is to facilitate recruitment for full-time and part-time positions, volunteer and summer employment and internships.”

Dina Khalidi, DWC Employer Relations Coordinator, noted: “Employers’ Day provides a real chance for employers to educate our students and graduates about their organizations, and the available vacancies.  For our students and graduates, this day is the right day to get employed, and to network, as we are hosting more than 43 employers from different sectors. This year, most of the participating employers are from the private sector, where we want our Emirati students to be more involved now and in the future.”

CAREERS at DWC is a diligent department at DWC providing resources and programs that assist students and graduates to realize career opportunities, personal growth and academic success.  Its employment strategies program includes services such as work experience, career counselling, employment opportunities, and an in-depth program of job readiness workshops.  DWC students are trained on preparing for work experience, intercultural communication, workplace realities, developing a positive professional attitude, employment trends, Emiratization support program, personality dimensions, and preparing for the job shadow experience.
