HCT’s new Arabic website given Royal approval

7 years

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai created history recently by launching the world’s first educational website with an Arabic URL address.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed travelled to the HCT Fujairah campuses with the Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

Their Highnesses were greeted by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the HCT and HCT Vice Chancellor Dr Tayeb Kamali.

During a detailed and entertaining tour of HCT Fujairah Women’s College His Highness Sheikh Mohammed was shown the new HCT Arabic website.

His Highness was happy to place his signature electronically on the website’s homepage, signaling his approval of the new innovation.

The website mirrors the existing HCT English language website, although it does include a few extra features that combine to offer extra and easier accessibility to HCT for present students, their families, future students, alumni and the local community.

Fundamentally the website will provide a greater opportunity for partners and prospective partners as well as students to engage effectively with HCT for community and business relations, career development and educational activities.

The director of HCT Fujairah, Dr. Dave Pelham said: “It was an honor for the Fujairah Colleges to receive a visit from such important leaders of the UAE. To have His Highness sign off on the new website made the day all the more special. HCT and the Fujairah Colleges are focused on being accessible to students and to our community and the new website is an important step forward in providing that accessibility.”
