Invasive, insidious and with a diagnosis that leaves one gasping for breath, cancer touches us all in some way or another.
Family members and friends feel the awful helplessness of not being able to heal their loved ones. The cancer sufferer bears not just the disease but also emotional devastation and chemical toxicity, all of which have their own sorts of pain.
If research and medical innovations can bring relief to cancer patients then finding the money to do this is our collective responsibility.
The Terry Fox fundraising event was held in RAK on Friday March 5 to raise money for cancer research and was well supported by people from all walks of life .
RAK HCT Colleges came out in full force with 28 members of staff, which, if you count their families , made up over 55 contributors.
Some ran 5 km while others walked, rode or skated the 3.5km route. It was a day of wonderful camaraderie and fun.
A whopping Dhs 70 000 was raised by the runners and walkers and this money goes to the UAE University for its cancer research program.
