During the first week of December, students at Fujairah Men’s College and Women’s College celebrated a fun-filled week focused on the theme of Health and Wellness. Activities were organized around a daily theme including “Food and Nutrition”, “Exercise and Fitness”, “Women’s Health (FWC)”, “Men’s Health (FMC)”, “Mind, Mood and Emotion” and “Healthy Living”.
Activities ranged from informational sessions by the counselors, faculty as well as guest speakers to physical activities. Speakers informed students on topics such as healthy living, mother and child health, stress reduction and Thalassemia. The healthy snack of the day available at the entrance was a favorite with students. Staff and faculty were actively involved and assisted in many sports throughout the day such as horseshoes, petanque, table tennis, football and chess. The walk around the new walking path at Fujairah Women’s College was one of the favorites among the female students as was the Body Analysis Machine. The football and table tennis competition, on the other hand, proved to be a winner for the men.
The success of the week lies in the positive reactions of the students. As Mayar, Student Council President of Fujairah Women’s College stated, “Health and Wellness Week was a self discovery week, because we learned how to deal with our own bodies and minds!”
