The second Centre of Excellence for English Conference will be held at Al Ain Women’s College on Wednesday, 15 April 2009, under the theme “English is the Key: Cultivating Real Writers”.
Recognising that English is the key component for success in the world of education and beyond that in the workplace, the Centre of Excellence for English Conference 2009 will be a forum for the sharing of best practices, expertise and ideas leading to success in the skill of writing.
This one-day conference will be a highly interactive event not only for faculty but also for students as the conference will have two distinct strands, one aimed at English faculty across all levels and the other aimed at Higher Diploma Foundations students.
The conference will also showcase writing skills and teacher development books from a range of ELT publishers.
In attendance will be His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, with Michael Tomalin, OBE, CEO National Bank of Abu Dhabi as the keynote speaker, and, as the plenary speaker, Mr Peter Grundy visiting fellow at Northumbria University, UK, and the author of various resource books on writing.
