
On June 13 Dr. Farid Ohan, Director of the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology, had the pleasure of presenting two cheques totalling AED 112,000 in donations to organizations providing much-needed relief to desperate Syrian refugees and African famine victims.
The cheques, AED 53,000 & AED 59,000 respectively, were handed to Mr. Khamis Al Suwaidi, Sharjah Branch Director of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, and Mr. Saleh Eid, In charge of Internal Charity aid & campaigns, Sharjah Charity International, in the presence of Sh. Amal Al Qassemi, SHCT Associate Dean of Community and Public Relations, and a number of officials from the SHCT, UAE Red Crescent Authority, and Sharjah Charity International.
In a show solidarity and compassion for victims of natural disasters, wars, internal conflicts, and hunger, SHCT students, faculty and staff had been involved throughout the year in a number fundraising activities to help the people of Syria and the victims of the famine in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. The fundraising activities ranged from bake sales, charity luncheon, car washes, garage sales, nature walks and water relays, coins collections, etc.
