The Higher Colleges of Technology’s Khalifa City Women’s College will host faculty members from across the UAE for a day-long event encouraging the use of iPads in higher education, on June 20.
iCelebrate Teaching & Learning: Sharing the iPad Experience will consist of brief interactive workshops in which educators from the HCT, Zayed University, and UAE University will share ideas, experiences, and plans for using the iPad to transform higher education.
Large numbers of students and faculty across the UAE’s federal institutions will use iPads in classrooms starting from September 2012.
The event will consist of a series of brief, concurrent sessions running from 9am to 3pm, with lunch provided. Participants will also have access to an “Idea Zone,” where they can reflect, brainstorm, and continue conversations begun in the sessions. Faculty members and others, with or without experience of using the iPad, are invited to register and share ideas on this occasion.
KCWC Director Dr. Jace Hargis, a leader in UAE higher education’s iPad initiative, stated: “We look forward to exchanging our most effective, interactive teaching ideas in an engaging and energetic day of communal learning.”
Stephen Munns, Head of Foundations at KCWC, added; “The iCelebrate day will generate many concrete ideas we can implement when classes begin again in September.”
