Health Information Management students gain industry insights at conference

HIMSS 2012

On May 20, 5 final-semester BAS Health Information Management students from Sharjah HCT were fortunate to attend the annual HIMSS Middle East 12 Conference & Health IT Leadership Summit in Abu Dhabi.

The theme “Linking People, Potential and Progress across the Middle East” was discussed and presented by the UAE various governmental health authorities - HAAD, SEHA and DHA.

Regional representatives were from Ministry of Health from Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar. There were also speakers from the USA and Thailand. Much deliberation on National Health Framework and eHealth Programmes in the Middle East took place.

Apart from visiting exhibitors; Cerner, Epic, SAP, First Databank; which were very informative and useful for their final project, the students were also exposed to future relevant job opportunities.

The students were happy to be able to meet up with the other HIM students from ADWC. Proud to note that both SWC and ADWC HIM students did a great job at volunteering to do line and session monitoring throughout the conference.

The students were grateful to the Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi for sponsoring their travel to the conference.
