FMC student Hajer Al Kaabi readies for U.S. study trip

Fujairah Men’s College student Hajer Saeed Rashed Salmein Obaid Al Kaabi was one of the few students in the whole UAE hand-selected by the US Department of State to participate in the Middle East Partnership Intiative (MEPI).

Hajer will pack her bags, grab her passport and travel over 12,000 kilometers to Portland State University in Oregon for the five-week program this summer.

The program’s aim is the equip the participants with an “extensive inventory of knowledge and skills to help them effect civic leadership and community development in their home communities” (http://www.pdx.edu/cae/mepi).

Donna Wilson, Supervisor of Student Affairs at FMC said: “Hajer’s leadership, dedication and hard work have given her this great honor and opportunity. We at FMC are very proud of to have her as part of our campus and community!”

Hajer said she was excited to increase her awareness and skills so she can return and use them to support her community and her country.
