The Higher Colleges of Technology’s Abu Dhabi/Khalifa City Women’s College recently held its annual Student Recognition Ceremony.
It was an occasion to honor AD/KCWC students who have willingly contributed their energy to various activities throughout the year.
The College recognized dozens of students who have excelled in non-academic College activities, with the aim of promoting student involvement in the College experience.
Students distinguished themselves by working on the College’s Student Council, who perform important tasks such as planning and carrying out charitable activities; as Student Ambassadors, who greet and guide VIP guests; and as outstanding extracurricular leaders, who preside over clubs and help with events and charitable works.
In addition, the College’s academic divisions—Foundations, Business, Computer and Information Science (CIS), Engineering, Health Sciences, Education, and Applied Communications—each nominated students who contributed much-needed support for departmental activities.
Students who created outstanding art works and others who played competitive sports were also honored. The outstanding students were thanked with certificates of appreciation and small gifts.
Long applause greeted a select group of “Star Students,” who have made significant contributions in more than one area of College activities.
Five students fell into this category, including Student Council Vice President Naeima Bader, who was also selected as the Outstanding Student from the Education Division, and Student Council Member Shaikha Khouri, named the Outstanding Student from the CIS Division and also recognized for services to the Community Relations and Marketing Department.
Three other “Stars” combined participation on the Student Council, where they fill roles such as secretary or subcommittee chair, with nominations from their academic departments.
Dr. Jace Hargis, Director of AD/KCWC, stated: “These students have made the College better for all of us, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts. Their dedication to serve and lead will help them to succeed in any endeavor they undertake.”
