Seventy Diploma students at HCT-Fujairah’s women’s college recently participated in the “You can b!” Innovation Camp.
Forming part of the Higher Colleges of Technology’s continuous efforts to support both enrolled and graduated students, the workshop challenged the students to find innovative solutions to a real business challenge using creativity, out of the box techniques, and teamwork.
During the day-long workshop, sponsored by INJAZ UAE and the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, the students harnessed their leadership, critical thinking, and presentation skills and learned about business start-ups in a fun and engaging way.
“This workshop has taught me to be more creative and to believe more in team work,”said Aisha Abdulla, a student attending the workshop.
Her colleague, Hamda, added: “ I now know how to come up with a business idea and what aspects to consider when doing so.”
“The Career Center at Fujairah Women’s College is embracing this initiative as one of the many efforts to develop a skilled future workforce and raise the profile of FWC graduates in the community,” said Lana Ayyash, Career Advisor at FWC.
Her thoughts were echoed by Kifah Alramahi, Supervisor of Student Services who said: ”This has been a great opportunity for our Diploma students to learn new skills and prep them for future careers and possible entrepreneurship. The level of engagement our students put into this workshop has been extraordinary and we thank INJAZ and the Khalifa Fund for giving them this amazing opportunity.”
Dr. Davie Pelham, Director of FWC, expressed his appreciation to INJAZ, to the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, and to the volunteers who supported the event. “We are glad to see our students gaining new skills, energy and enthusiasm from the Innovation Camp workshop. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this workshop possible and we look forward to having more of these workshops at HCT Fujairah.”
