Fujairah Men’s College IT Diploma students recently visited local schools as part of their project “Support Local Community & Schools” in the ITDP 241 PC Configuration Course.
As part of their course, students were required to use their IT skills and to serve their local community. Suood Al Mansoori, Students Affairs Coordinator, contacted schools through the Ministry of Education – which provided a list of schools needing IT support.
The students worked hard and fixed all the computer problems the schools had. While some computers had problems with operating systems, most of the problems were related to old hardware parts.
Students were asked to display professional approaches during the troubleshooting – which they did splendidly. They formed a virtual IT company called “IT Professional” and each student was appointed to a particular job, such as IT Manager, IT Support Engineer, IT Technician. Finally they appointed their IT teacher, Rana Chakma, as their consultant.
Mr Ibrahim Ali, the Principal of the Al Bidiya School, was very happy and gave a message to students – “ All of us are very happy to see that our UAE national students are so professional and could fix computer problems that our IT teachers couldn’t. We are very thankful and grateful to HCT-Fujairah for taking up such a great initiative to help the local community. We hope they will continue this type of support in future. Insallah, you will graduate soon, and continue serving our community like this”.
Mr Ali Abo Elwafa, a Computer Teacher at School expressed his gratitude to the students and said: “I lost my words to say how much I’m happy with your work. Today I learnt professionalism and some IT techniques from you. Thank you so much!.”
Students were very happy and felt proud that they were able to fix practical computer problems on their own.
