The RAK Colleges Creative Writing Centre was established this year to identify potential authors among our student population and to offer these talented young writers a venue for publication through an annual creative writing journal.
A competition was held to officially name the journal with the winning submission chosen as Kalimat (Words).
The winning entry was suggested by two individuals: a student, Aamena Ali Mohamed Saeed Abd Al Shehhi Al Shehhi and a faculty member, Kate Quinlan. Each of the winners received an iPad.
The first issue of Kalimat will be published in June and distributed throughout the UAE. It is hoped that Kalimat will be the foundation of a long and worthy tradition that will continue to grow and evolve with our colleges and our emirate.
