Six students from the Dubai Men’s College Global Local Club recently travelled to the US for an educational and cultural trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and New York City.

In Philadelphia they gave a presentation to a full house in the Globetrotter’s Forum on the educational and personal benefits of the Global Local Club.

While at the TESOL convention, they served as volunteers for the HCT recruiting team and were invited to participate in a Question/Answer session for prospective teachers.

Dr Phil Quirke, Director of Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges and head of the English recruitment team said: “The DMC students did a fantastic job assisting the recruitment team at the TESOL convention.  Their participation really was an asset to our efforts in recruiting high-quality faculty.”

After the TESOL Convention in Philadelphia, the group headed to Washington, DC and New York City under the supervision of DMC faculty members, Konrad Cedro and Dr Christine Coombe. In addition to sightseeing, the group visited the New York University (NYU) campus and met with NYU students.

Former NYU-AD scholar and Past President of the DMC Global Local Club, Ahmad Belhoul Al-Falasi was the key organizer of this activity and led the student exchange.

“The NYU-AD program and the Global Local Club complement each other as their primary focus is on education and expanding students’ horizons,” Ahmad said.
