Mr. Tim Smith, Director, Al Ain Colleges, Higher Colleges of Technology opened the 5th Centre of Excellence for English Conference, entitled “Innovations in ELT”, on Wednesday 4th April 2012 at Al Ain Men’s College, Higher Colleges of Technology, Al Ain.

In addition to Mr. Tim Smith and other distinguished guests, the conference attracted over 300 delegates from tertiary institutions in the UAE.

To cater for all the delegates, the conference offered more than 20 highly interactive breakout sessions. The featured speakers and presenters challenged the delegates with fresh approaches and insights in English language teaching and provided a forum for English teachers to share their expertise and develop networks between teachers and campuses across the UAE.

This conference provided an opportunity for English teachers to share innovative teaching and learning practices and demonstrate examples of new technologies that have revolutionised how students learn and the way English teachers deliver their courses.

The delegates also perused the latest teaching materials and educational technologies at the conference exhibition.

Mr. Smith stated: “The Higher Colleges of Technology is renowned for its pursuit of excellence. This conference focused on current and future teaching and learning practices and offered varied professional development sessions for professional educators in the UAE.
