Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology (SHCT) signed an agreement with the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge Information Technology Skills Center (TAGCAITC) to be a certified international examination and training centre for the Cambridge International Diploma in IT skills.

The Cambridge International Diploma in IT Skills is designed and developed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), the world’s largest provider of international qualifications. Based on the Microsoft Office applications, this certificate assesses a range of the most important IT skills required and is available at two levels: Foundation and Standard.

The agreement was signed by Ms. Anne Brabazon, Dean of English and Foundation Studies, on behalf of the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology and Mr. Ali Shalabi, Executive Director at TAG-Org – Sharjah, on behalf of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization.

Under the agreement the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Cambridge IT Skills Center will certify the Sharjah Colleges’ IT trainers and provide the computer labs with the needed software for the students to obtain the Cambridge International Diploma in IT Skills.

Mr. Ali Shalabi, Executive Director at TAG-Org – Sharjah, said: “We are proud to have entered into this cooperation with the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology   The importance of this certificate lies in the fact it is given by a prestigious academic institution which is Cambridge. It is recognized by the Ministry of Education and is becoming an employment requirement for working in many government offices. ”

Dean Anne Brabazon welcomed the partnership with the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organization and explained how useful the training for this Cambridge Certification will be for the Sharjah students.

“As a college that delivers all instruction through blended learning programs, one of our early aims for our new students, is the mastery of the Microsoft suite as quickly and easily as possible. What we have seen so far of the TAGCAITC training and study material   has convinced us that our  students will benefit immensely from this partnership,” she said.

Present at the signing of the agreement were, from TAG: Mr. Jamal Mattar, Professional Service Director, Mr. Bilal Abu Hammam, IT Manager, and Eng. Bayan Abu Baker, TAG Cambridge – UAE Manager, and from SHCT: Mr. Dimitri Chami, Associate Dean of the  Foundations Program, Ms. Hana Baroudi, PD Coordinator, and Ms. Aisha Al Midfa, ICT Coordinator.
