Water skills and endeavor abound as RAK Colleges host exciting 6th Annual HCT Traditional Boat Race

The excitement of the traditional boat race as the team's compete for glory

Crews from the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah Higher Colleges fought it out to the finish line in possibly the most exciting race in the series of six HCT Traditional Rowing Races since 2004, at the annual race on April 8.

Crews from FMC, DMC, RKMC, SMC, MZC and a combination AAMC/ADMC met on Khor Ras Al Khaimah to compete along a 3.5 km rowing course.

SMC and RKMC tussled out the race to the finish line, and really the race could have gone either way, except that in the final 100 m RKMC was able to summon enough reserve to cross the line ahead of SMC by a boat length. In doing so, RAK Men’s College retained the coveted ‘Sahrookh’ trophy for the 3rd year running.

FMC and MZC competed closely for third in the mid stages of the race, but it was a very impressive MZC who took out third place. Fourth was FMC followed by DMC and AAMC/ADMC.
