CERT and Wharton launch competition for young entrepreneurs

For the first time in the Middle East, CERT, in collaboration with the Wharton School, is launching the CERT|Wharton Entrepreneurial Planning and Innovation Competition (EPIC). The competition is not just about ideas, but it is a comprehensive, three-month platform to help entrepreneurs and their teams launch their new business ideas.

Upon registration, teams submit an executive summary of their business plan. These plans are evaluated and the top eight will move through to the finals. The Finals consists of the preparation and submission of a full business plan, and a formal pitch to a panel of distinguished judges.

Teams participating in CERT|Wharton EPIC compete for US$50,000 in cash prizes and access to entrepreneurial resources or capital. The Grand Prize will be worth US$20,000.

A team might consist of one person, or as many people as desired. Teams are typically 2 – 5 people. The team must designate a team leader, who must be a degree-candidate student at a higher educational institution in the United Arab Emirates. Team members must be either a current degree-candidate of a UAE based higher education institution or a certified alumni of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Registration is open until 20th December 2009.
